Matthew A. Poland, MPA
Founder and Principal
Matthew works to inspire education and workforce practitioners to fully engage in the future of work, and he supports their efforts to deepen their relationships with businesses and solve complex program design challenges. With 16+ years of experience leading and managing projects in workforce development, employment services and career and technical education, he has a wealth of experience to draw from when taking on a new challenge.
A few of Matthew’s focus areas include understanding automation and emerging technologies and their impact on the economy, developing high-quality relationships with businesses and employers, and developing meaningful work-based learning experiences. He has more than 19 years of experience in total working with marginalized populations, and he brings the perspective of people who face barriers to education and employment to every project.
Matthew has most recently worked on projects for JFF, where he provided technical assistance to schools, colleges, workforce development and government agencies. Prior to JFF, he managed a work-based learning intermediary for youth at the United Way of the Bay Area in San Francisco. Before that, Matthew helped design and manage an employment services program for people with disabilities at California Pacific Medical Center. He holds a master’s in public administration from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
